Roof replacement

A new roof, torn off to the deck and built right.

Harbor Roofing replaces roofs across Salt Lake City, the Wasatch Front and southwest Wyoming. Asphalt shingle, metal, tile or wood shake — stripped to the deck, rebuilt to manufacturer spec, and backed by a 25-year warranty. Most homes are finished in under ten hours.

Why homeowners pick Harbor

The boring guarantees that actually matter

  • 25-year warranty

Every roof we install is backed by a 25-year warranty, in writing.

  • Licensed & insured

A fully licensed and insured Utah crew — never a fly-by-night storm chaser.

  • Insurance claims handled

We document the damage, meet your adjuster, and walk the claim through with you.

  • Answered 24/7

An active leak at 2 a.m. is still an emergency. Someone picks up the phone.

How a Harbor replacement goes

  1. 01

    Tear off to the deck

Every layer comes off. We never shingle over an old roof — it hides rot and voids most manufacturer warranties.

  2. 02

    Repair the decking

Soft or rotten sheathing gets replaced and photographed before it disappears under the new roof.

  3. 03

    Underlayment and ice barrier

Synthetic underlayment across the field, ice and water shield at the eaves and valleys where Utah snow backs up.

  4. 04

    Shingles, flashing, ventilation

New flashing at chimneys, walls and pipes, ridge venting sized to the attic, and shingles fastened to manufacturer spec.

  5. 05

    Clean-up and final walk

Magnet sweep of the yard and driveway, debris hauled the same day, and a walk-through with you before we leave.

Replace or repair?

Plenty of roofs we look at have years left. If yours is one of them we will say so and quote a roof repair instead. If a storm caused the damage, the replacement may be covered — see how storm damage and insurance claims work, or read about the roof types we install.

  • The roof is 10–20 years old and on original shingles
  • Granules filling the gutters and bald patches on the slopes
  • Curling, cupping, or brittle tabs that crack when lifted
  • Repeated leaks in more than one part of the roof
  • Storm damage an adjuster has already approved
  • Neighbors on the same block are replacing theirs

Roof replacement questions

How long does a roof replacement take?
Most residential roofs are torn off and replaced in a single day, often in under ten hours. Larger, steeper or tile roofs take longer, and we tell you before we start.
How much does a new roof cost in Utah?
Most Utah homes fall between roughly $9,000 and $22,000 for asphalt shingle, depending on size, pitch, layers and complexity. See our roof replacement cost breakdown for the full detail.
What warranty comes with the roof?
A 25-year warranty on every roof we install, in writing, alongside the manufacturer's material warranty.
Will you replace damaged decking?
Yes. Rotten or delaminated sheathing is replaced by the sheet, and we show you the boards before we swap them so nothing is invented.
