Hail & wind
Hail and wind damage repair, documented for your insurer.
A Wasatch Front hailstorm can strip the granules off a five-year-old roof without leaking for another two winters. Canyon wind lifts tabs and creases shingles that look fine from the driveway. We inspect free, photograph every slope, tell you honestly whether there is a claim, and repair or replace what the storm took.

What the damage looks like
Hail damage
- Dark bruises where granules are gone and the mat is soft
- Granule piles at the bottom of downspouts
- Dents in gutters, vents, flashing and the AC or swamp cooler housing
- Split or fractured tiles and dented metal panels
- Spatter marks on chimney caps and painted metal
Wind damage
- Missing tabs, often in a run along one slope
- Creased shingles that lifted and folded back down
- Exposed or backed-out nail heads
- Torn or displaced ridge cap and hip shingles
- Lifted or peeled-back flashing and drip edge
Storm damage is usually covered — read how the roof insurance claim works, or if the roof is already leaking, get emergency tarping tonight.
Hail and wind damage questions
- How do I know if hail damaged my roof?
- Hail damage is often invisible from the ground. Look for dented gutters, downspouts, vents, flashing and metal window wraps — if the soft metal is dented, the shingles were hit too. On the roof itself, hail leaves dark bruises where granules are knocked off and the mat underneath is soft to the touch.
- What does wind damage look like?
- Missing tabs, shingles lifted or curled at the bottom edge, creased shingles that flapped and folded back down, exposed nail heads, and torn ridge cap. Wind damage often shows up on one slope only — the one facing the storm.
- How long do I have to file a storm claim?
- Most Utah policies require prompt notice and many limit claims to one or two years from the date of loss. Do not wait for a leak — by then the insurer may argue the damage is age-related.
- Should I get on the roof myself?
- No. It is dangerous and walking on damaged shingles can make the damage harder for an adjuster to read. We inspect free and send you the photos.
- Does a claim raise my premium?
- Weather losses are usually treated differently from at-fault claims, but rating varies by carrier. Your agent can tell you exactly how your policy handles it — we will never pressure you to file.
